Breaking up without going “over the Topp”

Fiona SasanThe separation of a couple can end up in court for reasons other than divorce, as a recent news article highlighted. The defendant, Maria Topp, pled guilty to grievous bodily harm having bitten her boyfriend’s scrotum during a drunken argument. The judge commented that it was clear their relationship was well and truly over, perhaps unsurprisingly!!

Dealing with the end of a relationship is immensely difficult and it takes skill tact and pragmatism not to escalate high emotion unnecessarily. Choosing the right solicitor is absolutely critical to ensure you have the best chance possible to make the transition to separated life without pouring salt on wounds. (ouch!)

At Morton Fraser we have the depth and breadth of experience and expertise within our specialist family law team to handle pretty much anything. It’s fair to say we have probably seen it all at one time or another and discretion and confidentiality of our clients is the bedrock of our ethos.
