Legal Traineeships

The first step to the top

Looking for an outstanding career? The first step to success is a traineeship with Morton Fraser, a firm with outstanding lawyers and outstanding clients.

You'll find the traineeship itself rewarding too, because we don't throw you in at the deep end. We'll help you find your place. Here's how.

  • We take great care when we select our trainees. A specially trained panel of partners and associates selects the right candidates.
  • Before you start your traineeship, you'll be able to contact and meet other trainees. You'll quickly make new friends who help you settle in.
  • We give you three days of training and when you're ready, you'll be working in a small team, have your own caseload and get in touch with clients.
  • If you've got questions, Dorothy Kellas - one of our partners has a special responsibility for trainees. She looks after you and your progress.

At Morton Fraser we see our trainees as potential future partners, so we invest in your time with us.

Every year we offer up to ten legal graduates a two-year traineeship. You can apply for one of those places from May 2010.

What our trainees say

I think working at MF is good because  everyone is so friendly, helpful and approachable,  the firm has a number of practice areas so you get exposure to a wide range of legal problems and there is a good work life balance and everyone is always up for a social event!

Lesley Currie Trainee Solicitor

I came to Morton Fraser for an interview for a traineeship not knowing much about the firm.  When I arrived I got a really good feel for the place and I felt relaxed and comfortable during what could've been quite a stressful day.  The place has lived up to those first impressions so far!

My Traineeship at Morton Fraser has so far been varied and fulfilling, and staff and partners are both equally approachable.
