We aim to ensure that all our trainees have a fulfilling, enjoyable and worthwhile experience at Morton Fraser and we are proud to say that our trainees have formed great impressions during their time with us.
Here are some of our current trainees commenting on their experiences so far:
"I was always argumentative as a child; combine that with a need to solve problems and a love of working with people and you can understand why a career in law was for me; but why Morton Fraser? Well, I was always interested in private client work when I was at university, but I wanted the opportunity to try other things too.
Morton Fraser provided the answer: a large private client base within a multi disciplined firm. I have had the opportunity to work in agricultural and rural property, construction, employment and asset protection, all very challenging, and all very different! The support you get is outstanding, and you get exposure to solicitors at every level; which means access to a huge knowledge base.
And the best bit of all? Morton Fraser also encourages a work life balance, which is eagerly promoted by the social committee who organise a variety of events throughout the year from pub quizzes to the Christmas party, perfect!"

"I studied law at Edinburgh University after first completing an English Literature degree and spending a couple of years travelling and working overseas.
I thought that perhaps this indirect route into law would put me at a disadvantage, but it is clear that Morton Fraser value the variety of experience that people bring to the firm.
My first seat was in Private Client department dealing mainly with Asset Protection and Executry work. The level of support and training I received during this time was exceptional, and from the beginning I was given interesting work for real clients. This really made me feel part of the team and clearly see the contribution I made to the wider firm.
I am now currently working in the Commercial Property team, and really enjoy the work we do – amongst other things, last week the team sold a group of quarries and this week we are involved in leasing an airport. I have real responsibility, direct contact with clients and other solicitors, and am very much involved in these transactions.
Leaving university and undertaking a traineeship is nerve-wracking, but Morton Fraser made me feel both valued and welcome. The culture here is both supportive and professional and trainees are recognised as integral members of the team."
