Your First Steps to the Top

We hope that will find your traineeship both rewarding and enjoyable. We don't throw you in at the deep end and we'll help you find your place. Here's how:

  • Before you start your traineeship, you'll be able to contact and meet other trainees. You'll quickly make new friends who help you settle in.
  • We give you three days of training and when you're ready, you'll be working in a small team, have your own caseload and get in touch with clients.
  • A manager will be appointed for each seat, usually one of our Associates, who will be your coach to ensure you stay “on track”.
  • If you've got questions, Douglas Milne, one of our partners, has a special responsibility for the development and wellbeing of our trainees. He looks after you and your progress.
  • We take great care when we select our trainees. A specially trained panel of partners and associates select the right candidates. We see our trainees as potential future partners, so we invest in our selection process and your time with us.

Every year we offer up to ten legal graduates a two-year Scottish traineeship. Our chosen trainees will spend six months in four different seats, offering them great access to our 12 practice areas in four divisions.

There is the opportunity for one of the four seats to be based in our Glasgow office and also the potential for a secondment to one of our banking clients.
