Luxury yachts, the Caribbean and Morton Fraser

Posted: Wednesday 2 November 2011

As a member of Interlaw, an exclusive international network of independent law firms, Morton Fraser lawyers can receive any number of interesting, and sometimes exotic, enquiries over a month.

The shipping team have recently been involved in various cross jurisdictional deals involving worldwide shipping registries with the assistance of their correspondent Interlaw firms. In acting for a UK Lender in financing a fleet of commercial barges, the team acted with the Cypriot firm in dealing with the Cypriot shipping registry.

The team also acted for a major high street lender in taking and registering security documents over a vessel registered in the Cook Islands to secure obligations under marine loan facilities granted to a St Vincent and Grenadines company.

Similarly they acted in a multi million pound deal, where finance was provided to a Company registered in England which owned a luxury yacht registered with the St Vincent and Grenadines Shipping Registry.

But it’s not all exciting travel and international food for the Morton Fraser team. Clients experience this first-class international service directly from Morton Fraser’s Interlaw colleagues, who are situated all over the world.  Providing local, expert, legal advice efficiently and cost effectively for all the parties involved.
