Leading law firm Morton Fraser today moves into new purpose built offices at the Quartermile development in Edinburgh. The firm will occupy the top four floors of the £20m six storey office development at Lister Square.
The firm, which has 35 partners and employs more than 250 staff in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, has taken a 15 year lease on more than 36,000 sq ft in Quartermile, signalling a new phase in its long history.
Chief Executive Linda Urquhart said that the move was a very significant one for the firm:
"Not only will we be able to offer our clients and colleagues much improved flexible meeting space with access to all the latest technology they need when working on commercial transactions and their personal legal business, but we are making a bold move from a traditional Edinburgh property into one of the most contemporary buildings in the new business district."
"Over the past five years, we have grown significantly in Edinburgh, and opened new offices in Glasgow and London only to see them increase in size well in advance of our expectations, so this move for our Edinburgh team to new purpose-built premises at Quartermile marks another significant milestone for Morton Fraser. "
"We represent some of Scotland and the UK's largest public and private sector organisations, as well as delivering award winning services for our private clients, so it's important for us to have a high quality modern base where our clients will have access to an even better quality of service, and where they and our staff will be comfortable doing business."
Chairman Bruce Wood added,
"Morton Fraser has a long and distinguished history of representing leading businesses and individuals, dating back almost 200 years, and we have always put innovation in client care at the heart of our business. We're told that we are seen as a firm which people want to do business for and with because we have an ethos of looking after our people and being a good place to work, and we strongly believe that has to be reflected in how we deal with our clients."
"We are immensely looking forward to our future at Quartermile. This is a major long term move, which is a bold step in the current market, but it is a confident step into the future which will give us space for further expansion."
