Let the games begin - London 2012 Olympics

Posted: Thursday 22 December 2011

As of 1st January 2012, the UK Border Agency will be accepting visa applications for those wishing to travel to the UK for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.

The Olympics will be the biggest sporting event ever hosted in the UK and Morton Fraser is encouraging athletes and spectators to act now in order to avoid missing all the fun.

With 14,000 athletes from 208 countries around the globe due to participate in the games and an estimated four billion people watching the events from their homes, the 2012 games are to be event of the decade on a scale never seen before in Britain.

Morton Fraser’s immigration specialist, Jamie Kerr said:

“With Olympic fever heating up, those wishing to attend or take part in the games should act swiftly to ensure that they have the appropriate visa. Athletes, coaches, spectators, games officials and everyone involved with the games should check immediately what type of visa is required. Applying for the correct visa now will ensure that you can focus on training and enjoying the games later in the summer.”

The UK Border Agency have special types of visas in place for the games and Morton Fraser’s immigration and sports law teams are on hand to advise on how athletes and teams can travel to the UK in order to participate. For further information, contact Jamie Kerr.
