Morton Fraser helps Lothian Association of Youth Clubs convert to a SCIO

Posted: Wednesday 25 April 2012

Morton Fraser’s Third Sector Team is pleased to have assisted LAYC (Lothian Association of Youth Clubs) convert from an unincorporated association to a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation).

The members of LAYC took the decision to convert to a SCIO in order to provide more protection for its committee members and to bring its constitution up to date. The whole process took around 9 months, from inception to OSCR approval, and Morton Fraser guided LAYC through the legal process, liaising with OSCR and the Pensions Trust as necessary. The conversion took effect on 1 April 2012.

Throughout the process, we worked closely with Ian Boardman of LAYC, who said:-

“It was a big decision for LAYC to make this significant change and, being one of the early organisations to convert, it would have been very daunting had it not been for the highly professional support we received from Morton Fraser. We were pleased with both the level and nature of assistance provided which gave much reassurance to committee and staff alike as we moved through the conversion. We were delighted to have chosen Morton Fraser and would do so again without hesitation.’
