Averil is a senior solicitor in our top ranked Immigration team.

Averil advises individuals and businesses on a wide range of issues in relation to immigration, nationality and human rights law. She is experienced in drafting many types of immigration applications to the UK Home Office, as well as conducting appeal hearings in the First-Tier and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber. She is particularly interested in Points Based System applications, Sponsor licences, family migration, and British nationality law. She has a reputation for being someone who will go the extra mile to ensure the best results for her clients.

Averil is a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association and the Law Society of Scotland's Immigration and Asylum Committee. She is a mentor to students of the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, University of Glasgow.

Business Expertise

Averil has significant experience working with businesses and relocation companies in relation to Tier 2 (General) and Tier 2 (Intra Company Transfer) visa applications. She also assists with applications for Sponsor Licences and helps registered sponsors comply with their obligations to the Home Office. 

Averil also provides advice in relation to Tier 1 entrepreneur and investor visa applications.  

Public Sector Expertise

Averil has a breadth of knowledge with regard to the Tier 4 sponsorship regime and can advise Universities, Colleges and Schools on applying for a sponsor licence and ensuing they meet the rigorous compliance requirements imposed by the Home Office. She can also assist with visa applications on behalf of students to minimise the risk of refusal.  

 

Individuals & Families Expertise

Averil has a reputation for going the extra mile for her clients and assists individuals with applications for leave to remain, indefinite leave and British citizenship. She has particular expertise in relation to the family migration rules and dealing with complex applications for partners of British and European nationals. 

Averil  has considerable experience of appearing at the First-Tier and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber on behalf of appellants.
