Our Commercial Real Estate team is one of the country`s largest and leading teams providing tailored advice to a wide range of SIPP and SSAS providers from both within and outwith the United Kingdom.
He previously sat on the Law Society of Scotland AML Advisory Panel. Fergus has also recently been the Chairman of the Real Estate Practice Group of the international legal network Law Europe International.
Fergus specialises in the purchase, management and disposal of all types of commercial real estate held by SIPP and SSAS structures, advising SIPP and SSAS providers on all aspects of these transactions.

Register of persons holding a controlled interest in land: Five years after the initial consultation and following a delay due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Scottish Government has confirmed that The Register of Persons Holding a Controlled Interest in Land ("the RCI") will come into force on 1 April 2022.

One year on from Revenue Scotland’s LBTT reversal
It is almost exactly one year since Revenue Scotland reversed its decision to levy Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) on in-specie transfers between SIPP or SSAS providers. The reversal followed almost two years of industry debates, and indeed efforts to have the original decision overturned.
