Edinburgh Office
A partner in our Litigation division, Jenny specialises in personal injury and professional negligence.

Jenny became Morton Fraser’s chair in 2021 and had immediately set out to put in to place a vision for a more inclusive industry.

Jenny is an advocate for social inclusion within the Scottish legal sector, starting with Morton Fraser. She is particularly impassioned about breaking down barriers to social mobility, and the financial and social barriers to gaining a legal education.

Her own legal practice is in personal injury, health and safety and inquiry work. She has been defending employers’ liability, public liability and motor claims on behalf of a wide range of clients since 2000. During this time, she has acted for insurers, various self-insured companies, and local and central government bodies. Jenny’s diverse case work ranges from high value catastrophic injury claims to medical negligence.   She also represents clients at inquiries.

Jenny is qualified as a solicitor advocate, which enables her to provide clients with a consistent approach to advice and representation in court and gain the benefits of an accessible, streamlined service.

Jenny is considered as a Leading Individual Lawyer by Legal 500 in personal injury.

Business Expertise

Jenny handles a large variety of reparation cases, including employers' liability and  road traffic accident claims. Her team support clients through all stages of incident management, from accident investigation through to the court processes involved in civil claims for damages and fatal accident inquiries. Examples of recent cases include advising on a catastrophic road traffic injury claim, and providing advice on health and safety investigations to an organisation after a fatal accident on their site.

With over 20 years' experience of advising on personal injury cases, Jenny has developed specialist knowledge of various medical conditions, such as asbestos related diseases, back injuries and psychiatric illness.

Jenny has a particular interest in process driven work, streamlining our systems to deliver best value for our clients. She has developed systems of management information reporting for our clients, to ensure we can tailor reports to each individual client's needs.

Public Sector Expertise

Jenny leads Morton Fraser's public sector team, and specialises in health and safety, personal injury and inquiry work. She has been advising clients on employers' liability, public liability, and motor claims for over 20 years.

Jenny ensures smooth delivery of litigation services to our public sector clients, from case handling and reporting, to identification of our client's training needs.  Examples of recent cases include defending a complex asbestos related disease claim for a government client, and representing a public sector client at a major and high profile fatal accident inquiry.

In her management of client projects, Jenny has a particular focus on improving efficiencies for both ourselves and our clients by reviewing how we work together with them. For example, for the MoD, Jenny has consulted with their claims handlers to revise the format and delivery of our whole service to them to suit their needs.

Individuals & Families Expertise

Jenny represents clients in accident, disease and medical negligence cases. She works hard to ensure that her clients get the maximum compensation they deserve.

Examples of her recent cases include successfully achieving a high settlement for the family of a road traffic accident victim, and winning a court action which we raised on behalf of a lady who had been rendered unable to work as a result of the negligence of the medical practitioner who had treated her.

Jenny has the necessary knowledge and experience to guide her clients smoothly through all steps of the claims process.
