Robin Priestley

Consultant
Edinburgh Office
Robin has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist property lawyer and has worked on some of the biggest national infrastructure projects in recent years, including the A9 Dualling, A96 Dualling, Borders Railway and Glasgow Airport Rail Link projects.

Real Estate Expertise

Originally a rural property lawyer, with considerable expertise in estates conveyancing, planning & environmental law and windfarm projects, Robin switched to working on large scale compulsory purchase, land ownership investigations and land referencing on national public sector infrastructure projects. This included delivery of all land acquisition for the Borders Railway. He has also developed considerable expertise in land ownership investigations and the voluntary registration of all kinds of properties for commercial property, public sector and rural based clients.

Public Sector Expertise

Robin has played a major role in the Scottish Government's Voluntary Registration project, registering their complex rural and crofting estates in the Land Register. He has also done the same for the Ministry of Defence and Highlands & Islands Enterprise in their own Voluntary Registration projects. This involved the voluntary registration of everything from military bases, airfields, weapons testing ranges and housing to industrial estates and offices.

He is currently working on the A9 Dualling and A96 Dualling projects for the Scottish Government, assisting with large scale land referencing (land ownership/land interests identification) and compulsory purchase. He also provides Historic Environment Scotland with specialist legal support, particularly on projects involving complex titles or compulsory purchase.
