He is a dual qualified solicitor (Scotland and England/Wales) and advises businesses on their commercial legal requirements, such as company sales and purchases, equity investments, joint ventures, re-organisations, start-ups, shareholder disputes and intellectual property matters. He also has expertise in providing commercial legal services to the healthcare sector.

Austin sits on the board of the Edinburgh Small Business Development Fund and the Council of Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.
