Areas of practice
Real Estate, Planning & Environmental

Caroline Docherty joined Morton Fraser in January 2010, after 20 years as a real estate partner in two other commercial law firms. In recent years her practice has focussed on the strategic land industry, acting for both developers and land owners who recognise her skills can be utilised to their advantage, to unlock maximum development value.  She has also advised clients requiring specialist advice in relation to Section 75 and other Planning Agreements.

Caroline has represented developer clients with the Heartlands Development since its inception, potentially Britain’s largest  brownfield development site at 611 hectares, and involving the £51m clean up of the former Polkemmet deep mine site in West Lothian.

Caroline holds the position of Deputy Keeper of the Signet, the most senior member representative of The Society of Writers to Her Majesty’s Signet.
