Real Estate, Procurement & State Aid

Chris is a member of our real estate team. He specialises in major development schemes for both private and public sector clients. Recent experience includes -

Advising Scottish & Newcastle in connection with the disposal of the Fountainbridge Brewery site to HBOS;
Advising Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) on a number of ongoing projects including the entering into of long term Development Agreements for the redevelopment of the bulk of the College's existing campuses at Ayr (extending to around 307 hectares) and Aberdeen (around 195 hectares) utilising a master plan led approach;
Advising Falkirk Council in connection with the Development Agreement entered into for the regeneration of Denny town centre which included detailed procurement and state aid advice.

Chris also has a particular expertise in licensed and leisure matters and Chambers identified that Morton Fraser's "fantastic reputation in this field is widely attributed to his 'superb knowledge of the hotel and leisure industries' ". Chris also has wide experience in hotel development work and has advised developers on hotel management agreements with a number of leading hotel brands. Recent experience includes:

Acting for R20 / S&N Pub Enterprises in connection with its acquisition of Enterprise Inns' entire Scottish estate (137 units);
Acting for the purchasers of The Point Hotel Edinburgh.
