John heads our retail banking team. He advises financial institutions, including the main high street banks and building societies, particularly in mortgage related areas and more generally on product, contract and insurance matters.

He has expertise in consumer credit law and knowledge of the new Consumer Credit Regulations which implemented the EU Consumer Credit Directive in the UK on 1 February 2011. John also has experience in managing high quality volume legal services for the retail banking sector.

John has spoken at recent British Bankers’ Association seminars on consumer credit law and on the FSA's mortgage market review. He acted on behalf of the Council of Mortgage Lenders in a major review of the CML Lenders’ Handbook for Scotland.
