Leonard is a Partner in the Family Law team and accredited as a specialist in Family Law by the Law Society of Scotland. He is immensely experienced in all aspects of family law and specialises in financial provision cases and protecting individual wealth. He has developed and grown the Morton Fraser Family Law team over three decades to establish it as the highly respected and successful unit it is today. The team has been rated in the top category of one of the leading Legal Directories for ten successive years. At the forefront of his philosophy has been to defend the interests and needs of clients with total discretion and confidentiality, to maintain standards of excellence and to ensure that we have systems in place to deliver an efficient service to all clients.

He has been involved in several leading cases over many years, a number of which have been reported. His clients are drawn from a wide background within and outwith the UK but include professionals, people in business (particularly family businesses), land and estate owners, farmers, entrepreneurs and wealthy individuals keen to preserve assets. In recent years and following the demands and needs of clients, the scope of advice has widened to include pre and post nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and Civil Partnership issues.

Increasingly his cases involve an international or cross border dimension requiring advice on competing jurisdiction and related issues.

He was one of the first lawyers in Scotland to show interest in alternative forms of dispute resolution and has supported mediation in particular, as a means of resolving family disputes where appropriate. He has also served on the Council of a variety of voluntary organisations associated with family issues including Family Mediation, Couple Counselling and Stepfamily Scotland. He was appointed as a part time Chairman of the Child Support Tribunal for a number of years.
