Maggie is head of Morton Fraser’s Litigation Division. She has specialised in commercial litigation since qualifying in 1992 and has a particular interest in contractual disputes, banking & finance, debt recovery and insolvency.
Maggie is the main point of contact for dispute resolution for many of our main banking panels, and has been instructed in major banking cases, including the Scottish aspects of the OFT’s bank charges cases. She regularly provides training to our banking clients and has spoken at BBA conferences.
Maggie also manages our debt recovery team which acts for major players in the public sector, banking and private sectors, SMEs, and educational institutions. Maggie regularly provides debt and credit control/consumer credit training to some of our key clients in the education sector, a niche specialism within the firm.
Although Maggie is an experienced practitioner in Sheriff Court and Court of Session actions, much of her time is spent attempting to negotiate settlement, avoiding costly and often lengthy court actions for clients. She acts for household names in the business, banking and public sectors and has been involved in a number of reported cases, some of which went to the House of Lords.
The Legal 500 2010 recommends “Maggie Moodie’s efficient and approachable debt recovery team.”
