War, extremists and the 2012 Olympics

Posted: Wednesday 4 April 2012

In this first podcast by the Morton Fraser Sports Law Team, sports law expert Paul Geoghegan is joined by immigration lawyer Jamie Kerr for a discussion on this summer's Olympics.

In particular, Paul and Jamie discuss the following immigration scenarios which could affect the Games:-

Scenario no. 1 - What happens if war is declared on a nation competing in this year's Olympics?

Scenario no. 2 - What happens in relation to athletes with extremist views or criminal records?

Scenario no. 3 - What happens if athletes (or even full teams) claim asylum during or after the London 2012 Olympics?

A truly fascinating look at the whole issue of immigration and the Olympics and well worth a listen. For more information about any of the sports issues discussed please contact Paul Geoghegan, or if you would like to discuss immigration contact Jamie Kerr.
