Retail Banking

In retail banking, we are among the few experts in consumer credit law. We also have in-depth knowledge of lending and borrowing in the not-for profit sector, for example for social housing.

We work with major PLCs, UK banks and other financial institutions. In addition, we act for public sector and not-for-profit organisations.

Our retail banking team provides advice on a UK-wide basis, with lawyers qualified in both Scots and English law. In addition, our lawyers have experience of working at a senior level in-house in banking and others have significant  in-house secondment experience.

What our clients say:

We have worked closely with Morton Fraser on a number of consumer related projects and have found them to have a good understanding of the issues we face in an increasingly regulated environment. They consider the commercial realities as well as the strict legal position in providing their advice. This is invaluable in enabling the in-house team, in conjunction with their business colleagues, to assess the best way forward in any given scenario and thus to mitigate risk to the business. Kate Marshall, Solicitor, Lloyds Banking Group
