The team is highly ranked in the Legal 500 Guide to the Legal Profession and three members of the team are accredited as Specialists in Personal Injury Law. In the recent past, we have acted in some of the highest profile reparation cases in the UK, including representing the Ministry of Defence in the claims brought by the relatives of victims of the Nimrod aircraft accident in Afghanistan.
We aim to get close to our clients, offering a comprehensive service including bespoke reporting procedures to ensure that clients have all the information they require in order to assess reserves or check on the progress of their cases. Our clients enjoy direct access to our files through a secure extranet facility, providing visibility of every piece of correspondence we send and receive. We recognise that claims cost our clients money and affect their businesses. Our service also goes beyond dealing with the claims themselves, as we regularly provide advice on policy decisions and update clients on relevant changes in the law.
We offer tailored feeing arrangements to meet our individual clients’ needs. For many clients, we offer fixed fees for both pre-litigation negotiations and for defended court actions. This provides greater certainty as to the likely level of fees for any particular case, and ensures that we offer best value for the work we undertake.
Heading up the defender reparation team, both John Barrie and Jenny Grant are active members of FOIL, the Forum of Insurance Lawyers. All members of the team take a keen interest in developments in their field and ensure that they keep abreast of changes in the sector.

"Morton Fraser have been advising BAA on personal injury and health and safety matters since 2003 and have in that time dealt with numerous pre-litigated and litigated claims arising from incidents at our Scottish Airports. We have found their approach to be proactive and they have provided informed and commercial advice on liability, tactics and other issues of particular sensitivity facing BAA. In addition, Morton Fraser have gone far beyond their role as legal advisors and throughout their appointment they have regularly; presented legal updates and guidance on Regulatory compliance to Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport Management Boards and conducted tailored training for the airports".
