70% of employers intend to mandate vaccinations

A recent poll of 400 HR directors has found 70% of employers intend to require staff to be vaccinated against Covid.  This is despite the UK Government mandating vaccination in only very limited cases.  Employers will need to be cautious if implementing policies of this type given the risk of discrimination and unfair dismissal claims.

ONS statistics suggest older workers more at risk of redundancy following furlough

The statistics suggest that over half a million of the 800,000 workers still on furlough when the scheme closed on 30 September are aged over 50.  This leaves older workers at a higher risk of redundancy post pandemic.

Furlough leavers to benefit from Plan for Jobs expansion

The UK Government has announced a £500 million expansion of the Plan for Jobs initiative.  The unemployed aged over 50, the lowest paid and young people, and workers leaving the furlough scheme are all targeted for support.
