On Sunday 7 June, a team from Morton Fraser including Kathryn Hunt, Alyson Cowan, Ailie Crawford, Sarah Morrison and I abseiled SAS style (i.e. freefall) 165 foot off of the Forth Rail Bridge (and have the certificates to prove it!). We raised £1,057.43 for MacMillan, the firm's charity of the year and are glad to report that we all reached the ground in one piece and have lived to tell this tale.
We met on an unusually sunny Sunday afternoon in the Hawes Inn garden in South Queensferry, where we had a nail biting wait for our numbers to be called and to be taken down to the beach.
We joined up with another group raising funds for MacMillan and got geared up.
Next step was climbing up to the walkway running just under the rail tracks and walking out to the abseil point, whilst a train barrelled along over our heads. We were lucky that it was a clear day and the views were amazing, although none us were brave enough to take our cameras up to snap pictures of this!
And just in case people still doubt that we actually did it, here are a couple action shots:-
Thank you to everyone who supported us in reaching and surpassing our sponsorship goal including our colleagues, friends and families. Not only have we raised money for an important cause we also had great fun doing it!
