Scotland’s foremost child support law expert joins Morton Fraser

Prominent family and child law expert, John Fotheringham has joined leading independent Scottish law firm, Morton Fraser as a Consultant. Additionally, Jennifer Thomson joins as a Senior Associate in Morton Fraser’s litigation practice.

Fotheringham’s appointment enhances the depth of the firm’s well respected family law team. He was the first solicitor in Scotland to hold double accreditation in both child and family law. He is vice convener of the Law Society of Scotland’s Family Law Committee, the general editor of the Butterworth Family Law Service and also co-author of Green’s Family Law (3rd & 4th Editions). He also lectures occasionally at The University of Edinburgh. Most recently he was at Shoosmiths.

Meanwhile, experienced litigation lawyer Thomson joins Morton Fraser after 11 years at Clyde & Co. At Morton Fraser she will focus primarily on personal injury briefs within one of the largest litigation teams in Scotland as well as regulatory cases and other civil litigation claims.  Jennifer brings with her extensive experience of acting on behalf of insurer and self-insured clients in a wide variety of personal injury claims. She regularly represents clients in courtrooms throughout Scotland and holds a Masters in Advocacy from the University of Strathclyde.
