The aim of this initiative is to support the Scottish Government by utilising the skills of furloughed workers (and those who are not currently employed) from Scotland's tech community such as software developers, project and programme managers and business analysts.
The Scottish Tech Army was founded by Edinburgh based entrepreneurs Alistair Forbes and Peter Jaco as a not for profit company. They are building a volunteer COVID-19 technical response team which will work with the Scottish Government (through CivTech, an innovation team within the Scottish Government's Digital Directive), local authorities and other organisations to address short and mid-term recovery phase responses to the pandemic. Eligible projects should have a focus and an urgent requirement. Scotland's tech community is renowned for its skills and innovation, so The Scottish Tech Army will be uniquely positioned to assemble those with the key skills required to help the relevant organisations get through the challenges posed by the pandemic.
The approach of this initiative is to start meaningful projects quickly and scale based on demand. The Scottish Tech Army is calling for volunteers to register on their website at www.scottishtecharmy.org Projects can also be submitted on this website
