Gail Watt

Gail is a legal director within the Agricultural Law and Rural Property team.

Gail is a founder member of Women in Renewable Energy Scotland (WiRES) and is the current Chair of their Steering Group. She is a member of the Law Society of Scotland's Energy Law Reform Committee, a Notary Public and also a mentor with both the Law Society of Scotland and the WiRES mentoring programmes. Gail volunteers at the University of Edinburgh Law School's Free Legal Advice Centre.

Gail is also a certified Mental Health First Aider.

Public Sector Expertise

Gail acts for a wide range of public sector organisations (from Local Authorities to Governmental Bodies) in relation to rural property interests in Scotland, in particular in relation to renewable energy projects - both developed by the public sector organisations themselves or in relation to approaches by 3rd party developers or community bodies.

Individuals & Families Expertise

Throughout her career Gail has acted for a diverse client base ranging from private landowners, partnerships and companies (including some of Scotland's largest landed estates) to funders and commercial organisations.

Her experience, gained in general chamber, commercial practice and in-house environments, includes the purchase, sale and lease of all types of rural property. Gail also has considerable experience advising on the development of renewable energy projects across Scotland.
