Ailie is a senior solicitor in the litigation division which is one of the largest and most experienced litigation teams in Scotland. 

Ailie is a knowledgeable and experienced commercial litigator covering a range of disputes including contract, company and corporate disputes. 

Her clients include some of Scotland's leading businesses and public sector organisations and she has acted in some high value/profile shareholder disputes, partnership disputes and breach of contract claims in these areas.

Ailie is also a key member of the division's contentious executries and trusts team which is one of only 3 band 1 ranked firms in that area of practice in Legal 500. She regularly advises individuals on their duties under powers of attorney, duties as executor, rights as a beneficiary and acts in actions of accounting, proving the tenor of wills and reduction.

The majority of her practice is in the Court of Session but Ailie is also an experienced advocate and regularly represents clients in the sheriff court and sheriff appeal court. Ailie is also committed to giving something back to the legal community and leads the firm's corporate social responsibility committee. She also teaches contract law to undergraduate students at the University of Edinburgh.

Business expertise

Ailie works closely with the firm's corporate and banking teams to resolve or litigate disputes for business.  She recognises the importance of resolving disputes in a cost effective manner and is experienced in alternative dispute resolution as a cost effective alternative to litigation in commercial disputes. 

Public Sector expertise

Ailie acts for many of the firm's public sector clients in commercial litigation matters including the Scottish Government and a number of local authorities. She acts for various government departments in a wide range of litigation and regularly appears on their behalf in Sheriff Courts around Scotland.

Individuals and Families expertise

Ailie acts for the firm's private clients in a wide range of disputes.  These includes disputes arising out of executries, powers of attorney and the interpretation of wills.  Ailie appreciates that the legal costs are of particular importance to private individuals and  works with the firm's private client team to ensure that any disputes that may arise in wills, trusts or succession matters are resolved quickly and effectively.
