Amar is a partner in our Housebuilders and Commercial Real Estate team based in the Glasgow office.

Amar specialises in commercial property since qualifying, which includes property acquisition and disposal, development, site assembly, property finance, acting for insolvency practitioners and landlord and tenant work. Amar's key areas of expertise are residential development and property finance (including development funding).

Amar has acted for numerous residential developers (including blue chip), local authorities and affordable housing providers in a wide range of matters in relation to site acquisitions, disposals, option agreements, deed of conditions, collaboration agreements and disposal and acquisition of affordable housing sites. Amar has also acted for major lenders in high value funding projects. 

Amar is very experienced in managing complex and high profile transactions.

Real Estate Expertise

Acting for residential developers in open market acquisitions and disposals on a daily basis including affordable housing. Amar is therefore regularly involved in negotiating contracts for open market acquisitions and disposals including negotiating and agreeing suspensive conditions and abnormal costs. He is also familiar with a large number of ongoing developments within Scotland for which acquisitions are continuing and can use his existing knowledge to bring efficiencies to clients.

Regularly negotiates overage agreements with various parties. His experience in respect of different types of overage (including on-sales, profit sharing, improved planning permission (additional units, square footage etc)) allows him to quickly negotiate and agree overage provisions without delaying the conclusion of contracts.

Acting in Development Agreements, Promotion Agreements, Infrastructure Agreements, Deed of Conditions and Collaboration Agreements between developers in respect of larger multi developer sites (dealing with, among other things, infrastructure works, allocation of development pods, commercial land, future phases, caps on unit numbers and pre-emptions).
