Business Expertise

Catherine gives advice on Consumer Finance and Financial Services Regulatory Compliance.

Her Consumer Finance work ranges from consumer credit (including overdrafts, loans, credit cards, buy now pay later credit and motor finance) to mortgage regulation (including regulated mortgage contracts, MCD mortgages and equity release lifetime mortgages). Catherine's Consumer Finance expertise spans across Retail, Wealth and Business Banking. Her Motor Finance work is focused on regulated hire and hire purchase products.

Due to her expertise, Catherine has spent time on secondment with a UK High Street bank and a challenger bank.

Along with advising on specific products, Catherine advises on wider financial services regulatory compliance. She is happy to help firms make sure they Treat Customers Fairly (TCF) in designing end-to-end customer journeys or correcting past mistakes. Catherine has worked on rectification and remediation projects, debt sale projects and projects implementing legal and regulatory change. This work involves balancing legal and commercial risk whilst ensuring customers are treated fairly. Catherine is also happy to help with queries on FCA permissions, such as lending and credit broking, and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR).
