Laura is an experienced employment law associate and trained mediator in our Litigation division which is one of the largest and most experienced litigation teams in Scotland. 

Laura is an accomplished Associate in our well respected employment team. She provides advice to both employers and employees on a broad range of employment issues covering contentious and non-contentious issues in the workplace.

Laura understands the often sensitive nature of workplace issues and can provide valuable support to clients whilst considering the important commercial and practical elements.  She regularly appears before Employment Tribunals, but as a trained mediator she is live to the merits of other dispute resolution methods and is well equipped to advise on these or to act as a mediator.

She is a member of Scottish Mediation and sits on their Committee for the Promotion of Mediation, as well as being a member of the panel of mediators at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and the Scottish Land Commission.

Laura regularly advises private, public and third sector employers on a wide range of employment law issues. She provides knowledgeable and sturdy advice in relation to restructures and redundancy, unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, settlement agreements and TUPE.

Laura has acted for employers in Employment Tribunals throughout the UK. She also has experience of representing clients in contractual disputes before the Sheriff Courts in Scotland.

Public Sector Expertise

Laura is a frequent adviser to public sector organisations in the context of a broad range of employment issues and conducts Employment Tribunal proceedings on their behalf.

Laura is always abreast of the latest developments in employment legislation and case law, and is a regular author of articles in our Knowledge Hub. As a result, she is aware of the important factors to be considered when dealing with public sector issues.

Laura delivers thorough and in-depth guidance to employees, including senior executives, on a wide range of employment law issues including unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, agreed exits/settlement agreements, redundancy and TUPE.

Laura has acted for employees in Employment Tribunal claims throughout Scotland. She also has a keen interest in mediation and other forms of dispute resolution. 

Laura also acts for employees in relation to disciplinary and professional regulatory matters.
