Lisa Dromgoole

Senior Associate

Overview

Lisa is a Senior Associate in our Commercial Real Estate team specialising in dispute resolution and dispute avoidance.

She is experienced in the resolution of construction disputes acting for employers, contractors, subcontractors and consultants in both the public and private sectors.

Lisa advises clients in relation to a variety of contentious construction issues including payment disputes, valuation disputes, claims for extension of time and associated loss and expense, administration of contracts, options for determination and importantly, the appropriate form of dispute resolution should a dispute arise. 

She is regularly instructed at an early stage to provide strategic advice.

Lisa is experienced in all forms of dispute resolution and has a wide ranging case load including disputes subject to adjudication, arbitration, litigation (both sheriff court and Court of Session) and mediation.  She has expertise in the interpretation and administration of contracts, including standard and bespoke agreements.

Lisa is also a member of our Real Estate Litigation and Planning & Environmental Law teams. She has recently acted for local authorities in their defence of Petitions for Judicial Review and statutory appeals against decisions taken under planning legislation.  She has also been instructed in a number of complex claims arising from dilapidations at the end of a lease term and the creation of servitudes.

She obtained an LLM in Construction Law in 2009, is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbiters (MCiArb) and a member of the Society of Construction Law.  Chambers 2016 ranks her as an "associate to watch."

Lisa is experienced in acting for public sector clients including central government, local government and public sector partners. Lisa is instructed to advise on strategic dispute resolution and her public sector case load includes some of the most complex, novel and high profile construction disputes.  She is involved in disputes for public sector clients as employers under building and infrastructure contracts, beneficiaries under collateral warranties and occupation as owners and tenants.  

She advises clients in relation to a variety of contentious construction issues including payment disputes, valuation disputes, claims for extension of time and associated loss and expense, administration of contracts, options for determination and importantly, the appropriate form of dispute resolution should a dispute arise.
