Marisa is an Associate in our Family Law team, based in Glasgow. She has two accreditations from the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in both family law and child law. While covering all areas of family law, she is particularly known for her expertise in the field of cross border and international child law. 

Marisa is an accredited specialist in family law and accredited specialist in child law. Marisa has particular expertise in international parental child abduction. She receives direct referrals from the Scottish government in this area and deals with enquires from child abduction charities. She has lectured and written articles on the subject. She is a full member of CALA, an English law group comprising child abductions specialists. She acts for both parents who have had their children removed from them and for those who have wrongfully removed children. Marisa understands the stress and anxiety that clients go through in this complex and specialist area of law.

Individuals and Families expertise

Marisa has experience in all types of family law including financial provision on divorce, cohabitation matters and child related issues. In recent years referrals in cross border, relocation and interdict/port stop cases have increased. She deals with clients throughout the UK and frequently advises clients in Europe, Asia, Australia and the US. More recently, Marisa has seen an increase in referrals from London based family lawyers who require her cross border expertise.

Marisa always attempts to achieve a successful outcome for clients through negotiation but has extensive experience in courts across Scotland should court action be required.
