Susan is a legal director, specialising in property related disputes and planning matters.

Her experience covers everything from boundary disputes, the creation of servitudes through prescriptive use and disputes relating to leases and missives. As well as dealing with proceedings in the sheriff court and the Court of Session, Susan regularly deals with  cases in both the Lands Tribunal for Scotland and the Scottish Land Court.

On the planning side, Susan deals with matters such as planning objections, compulsory purchase schemes (including applications for compensation) and planning inquiries.

Susan is also a member of Morton Fraser's licensing team, regularly appears before local licensing boards and has benefitted from a period of secondment at the City of Edinburgh Licensing Board.

Business Expertise

Susan is an experienced litigator specialising in property related disputes and planning matters.

She frequently deals with high value commercial disputes, often involving commercial leases, and in advising clients will always bearing mind the client's ultimate aim, including any time constraints, and the cost-effectiveness of taking a particular dispute resolution route.


Public Sector Expertise

Over the last 15 years, Susan has frequently acted on behalf of a wide range if public sector bodies. Most recently, this has included acting on behalf of the Scottish Ministers in several public inquiries for road improvement schemes, acting on behalf of the Ministry of Defence in maintaining objections to proposed wind farm developments.

She has also acted on behalf of a number of local authorities in dealing with issues such as the defence of compensation claims arising from a flood alleviation scheme and the defence of an appeal against a planning enforcement notice. Susan has also completed a period of secondment with the City of Edinburgh Licensing Board.
