At Morton Fraser Lawyers we have highlighted clarity as our guiding principle.
This directs the way we communicate, the way we advise, the way we conduct relationships with our clients and the way we are totally transparent and upfront about our charges. This applies to all our services from the straightforward to the more complex.
Constant change in complex regulatory areas such as mortgages and consumer credit exerts significant pressure on firms who have to operate in a compliant way, meeting high expectations from their regulators.
We see ourselves as an extension of your own in-house legal and compliance functions, providing specialist knowledge and experience to plug any gaps. When resources are stretched, we are the extra pair of hands and the reassuring voice that you need.
Clear advice on retail banking law
We provide advice in a way that allows you to make an informed business decision, with an awareness of both the regulatory and business risks of adopting a particular course. We don't just tell you what the black letter law is in any given situation, but use our experience to provide a balanced interpretation to help guide you towards the best decision for you.
While the regulatory framework may be complex, we'll keep our advice simple and straightforward.
Benefits we bring
Our expertise in advising on consumer credit law is highly sought after across the UK, and we're one of a small number of acknowledged experts in this field.
Our broad spectrum of clients, from the main high street banking groups, to building societies, credit unions and challenger banks, allows us to transfer knowledge and experience across a range of business situations.
Membership of the main trade bodies: the British Bankers' Association, the Finance and Leasing Association and the Asset Based Finance Association, gives us the opportunity to give you another voice in the melting pot of regulatory reform.
With lawyers qualified in both Scots and English law, our team has significant in-house secondment experience.
Our approach to fees
Once we've scoped your requirements, we'll provide you with a fee quote which, once agreed, we'll stick to. If the scope of work changes, we'll agree a revised fee with you before undertaking any additional work. Where there's some doubt as to the precise scope, we may agree a capped fee with you to allow you to agree a budget within which we can work.
