New Legislation, Guidance & Consultations - June 2019

There have been two new pieces of guidance recently aimed at helping women into the workplace.  Firstly the "women and work all party parliamentary group" - an informal group of members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords that constructively examines the role of women in the workforce - has published a toolkit .

The toolkit aims to address barriers to the recruitment of women and includes "top tips" for employers wishing to improve their recruitment process and attract and recruit more women.

New health and safety guidance for pregnant women and new mothers in the workplace has been published jointly by Maternity Action and the TUC.  Maternity Action is a charity whose aims are to end inequality and improve the health and wellbeing of pregnant women, partners and young children. The guide is intended to help trade union workplace representatives (1) ensure that their employer has processes in place to protect and support women during and after pregnancy and (2) support any members who may have any problems or concerns.

The Insolvency Service has published new guidance - explaining your redundancy payment.  The guidance is for employees who have been made redundant by an insolvent employer and contains a link to the online application for payments.  The guidance sets out the types of payment the employees could be entitled to and how the amount due is worked out.
