Averil advises individuals and businesses on a wide range of issues in relation to immigration, nationality and human rights law. She is experienced in drafting many types of immigration applications to the UK Home Office, as well as conducting appeal hearings in the First-Tier and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber. She is particularly interested in Points Based System applications, Sponsor licences, family migration, and British nationality law. She has a reputation for being someone who will go the extra mile to ensure the best results for her clients.
Averil is a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association and the Law Society of Scotland's Immigration and Asylum Committee. She is a mentor to students of the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, University of Glasgow.

UKVI's new in-country online visa application system
From the beginning of November 2018, there are major changes to the process of applying for UK visas and British citizenship applications from within the UK. Going forward, the Home Office are withdrawing the majority of paper application forms and most UK-based applicants will need to submit their application online via the Home Office's 'gov.uk' website.
