Caroline specialises in non-contentious construction law; reviewing, drafting and negotiating construction and engineering contracts for projects throughout Scotland.

Business expertise

Acting for clients from the public and private sectors as funders, employers, or as members of the professional team she provides commercial advice on the contracts needed for developments from the  inception stage of a project right through to completion.

Caroline is experienced in using standard form building contracts, sub-contracts, and consultancy agreements (in particular SBCC, NEC, FIDIC suites) aswell as reviewing, drafting and negotiating ancillary documents (schedules of amendments, collateral warranties, novation agreements, bonds and guarantees) and bespoke construction and engineering building contracts and appointment agreements.

Caroline works closely with clients to ensure that the construction and engineering contracts that they need for each individual project reflects the agreement between the parties and that her clients fully understand their rights and obligations; getting the contract right from the start to avoid disputes further down the line.

Commercial Real Estate expertise

Caroline works closely with colleagues in Commercial Real Estate providing non-contentious construction input into development and funding agreements, agreements for sale or purchase and agreements for lease.

She also has experience of dealing with more general property management construction and engineering contracts like licences for works and maintenance contracts.

Caroline has  particular interest in regeneration projects, and renewable energies, and the retail and leisure sectors.
